Workshop Logistics and Equipment Details

Please review these special arrangements and requirements for this workshop:

  • Workshops run from 9am to 4pm.
  • A VMWare capable Laptop is required to participate.  A standardized machine image will be used in class.  Laptop rental can be prearranged for the week for $175 - you can signup for this during registration for the class.
  • Registrants may be required to stay at the hotel where the event is being held - check the schedule to know for sure.
  • Breakfast, Lunch and a Lite Dinner is provided in your room rate.  For variety, you may wish to budget for a couple nights of dinner out.  Your suite is also outfitted with full cooking capabilities.
  • The hotel will only have a block of rooms set aside until the early bird date of the event - after this time rates cannot be guaranteed by DesktopEngineer.com.
  • During registration, your credit card information is collected to make a room reservation on your behalf - please do not reserve with the hotel seperately.  No charge is made to this card.  When you checkout you can use the registration card or another to pay for your room.  You may specify a different card for lodging reservations than the one used for payment for classes.
  • Due to the special arrangements needed for this event, a workshop cancellation policy is in effect - cancellations made after 30 days before the event will be charged a 25% cancellation fee.

  • 1.5 Ghz Processor
  • 768 MB RAM (512 MB will work, but may be slower)
  • 8 GB of available disk space
  • DVD ROM Drive to copy a Virtual Machine images to the computer (in order of preference):
  • The Version of VMWare Player used will be 2.0.  Please do not have a previous version on the laptop.

Getting Around:

Without a Car

  • The hotel is within less than a mile of 20 restaurants, Walmart, Office Depot, 2 Bars, Starbucks and a Supermarket (Grocery Store).  If you do not wish to rent a car, it is quite easy to get around on foot to these places.
  • A shuttle or cab will be required to travel from and to the airport.
  • If you wish to go to the King of Prussia Mall area the hotel also has a free shuttle that can take you there.
  • Due to the suburban nature of the immediate area, taxi cabs takes 30-45 minutes when called on demand or they can be pre-scheduled.

With a Car

  • The primary attraction in the immediate area is the King of Prussia Mall.
  • Philadelphia's "Main Line" area is accessible with a little more effort and 25 minutes of driving.
  • Trips to downtown Philadelphia and back are best made by driving to a train station on the mainline and taking the R5 train into town.
