This book provides an good getting started approach for Shell Scripting and VBScript.  In fact, if you are familiar with Shell Scripting (batch files) it can help you come up to speed on VBScript.  This is due mainly to handling each of these languages in chapter structures that are very familiar.

I did not feel the VBScript section was particularily strong, but if you need to learn both environments the book covers both in a format that is easy to follow!
