We have talked a little about ADSI (Active Directory Services Interface) in the Junk Drawer in the past. It is important to know that ADSI is not specific to Active Directory, it can also access Windows NT objects, NDS objects, Exchange directory objects and any LDAP store. In addition, within the ADSI definition of "Directory Services" is all kinds of systems things I wouldn't personally categorized as "directory" (For instance it can control Windows NT services). In short, this means it may be much more useful to you than you realize. This book has been written with ADSI and the administrator in mind!
My only criticism of the book is that all the sample code is written assuming that you are logged in as the user who has rights to manipulate the directory in the desired fashion - this is in contrast to the WMI scripts in the Windows 2000 resource kit that assume you may always wish to logon as a user with higher privileges (which can also be done in ADSI).
