"Windows Scripting Secrets" really does give you "secrets" There are many pages devoted to understanding how to use scriptable controls on your system that you may not even have known were there. One little script tests every scriptable control on your system and documents the interface to it.
Detailed information is given on how to use the free VB 5 Custom Control Edition to create custom controls for system APIs. This book really gets into the next level of scripting by showing you have to extend the scripting environment. There are many, many scriptable controls and their source code included with the book. If you've hit a wall on what the native scripting environment can do for a specific project, this is the first place to turn.
