On Friday Microsoft disabled Passport's virtual wallet features after a hack was devised that allowed a stealing of wallet information just by sending a specially formatted email message to the user's hotmail account.
I have never really liked the idea of centralized authentication for the entire Internet - let alone centralization of all my monetary instruments and tracking of my buying habits. I cynically wonder if at some point Microsoft will make us pay a licensing fee to gain access to all our own personal information in their "wallet" ?
