Quite some time ago Microsoft started an initiative known as the "Management Operations Framework" It is the equivalent to the Microsoft Solutions Framework (MSF), but targeted at the deployment, management, administration and operations of information technology."
Microsoft has not merely rehashed the MSF to make "operations-ish" - they have based it on some well known studies about managing operations in an IT environment.
