In Windows Vista Microsoft has really tightened up software execution and security. While these new features make valuable progress toward more secure systems, they also introduce uncertainties for Windows Installer packages. Microsoft's current advice on remediating these problems focuses on potentially extensive package editing - this is due to the fact that "Package Builders" are generally viewed as being developers - most developers will re-release their software for Vista - so it becomes a natural time to redevelop their installation package as well. In contrast, administrators would much rather avoid reworking existing, working packages if they can.
This webinar will be focuses on administrators needs when it comes to Vista and Windows Installer. Topics include What's New in Windows Installer 4.0, new Vista features that affect software installation, issues for software distribution, correct structuring of custom actions for Vista and Windows Installer log analysis for Vista package remediation. Q & A will be handled at the end of the session.
